Job Summary

Job Title: Machine Operator / Welder

S.A. Comunale is seeking a Machine Operator / Welder. The Machine Operator / Welder works closely with other fabrication shop employees to prepare pipe and other materials needed to complete each job the company is working on. The Welder will perform all welding functions within the fabrication shop while adhering to all safety measures. Work is expected to be done in a timely and efficient manner. This position is represented by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #219.

This job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast paced multi tasked environment with a focus towards detail and accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches and prepare material accordingly
  • Adjust weld parameters and machine settings to ensure weld(s) conform with all specifications
  • Inspect weld(s) for any non-conformances, missing welds, and repair or rework as necessary, also alerting other employees if necessary
  • Perform daily machine maintenance
  • Inspect pipe for any quality issues and that end prep is correct
  • Strong math skills are frequently used
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 2+ years of welding experience is required, with skill levels to obtain a 2G.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • 2+ years of experience reading/interpreting blueprints and drawings is a plus.
