What is a 200k engineering?

A 200K Engineering job refers to an engineering position that pays an annual salary of $200,000 or more. These roles are typically found in high-demand fields such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, data engineering, and specialized areas of mechanical or electrical engineering. High salaries in engineering are often associated with extensive experience, advanced technical skills, leadership responsibilities, and work in competitive industries like tech, finance, or aerospace.

What are some common challenges faced by engineers working on high-value ($200K+) engineering projects, and how can they be addressed?

Engineers working on high-value projects often encounter challenges such as complex stakeholder management, strict budget controls, and tight project timelines. Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams are essential to ensure all project requirements are met. Proactively identifying risks and implementing robust project management practices can help mitigate issues before they escalate, ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 200k engineering professional, and why are they important?

To excel as a high-earning engineer, you typically need an advanced degree in engineering, strong problem-solving abilities, and extensive experience in your field. Mastery of relevant technical tools such as CAD software, simulation platforms, and industry-specific certifications (like PE or PMP) is often required. Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills distinguish top performers in these roles. These competencies are crucial for successfully leading complex projects, driving innovation, and delivering high-impact results in demanding engineering environments.

What is the difference between 200K Engineering vs Software Engineer?

Job description

Full-Stack Engineer, Enterprise AI Platform

Full-Time | On-Site | San Francisco, CA
$200K–$290K Base Salary + 0.4%–0.7% Equity
Higher compensation may be available for exceptional candidates.

About This Role

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join a fast-growing, early-stage AI company as a core builder on the engineering team.

The company is building an AI-native platform for forward deployed engineering (FDE) and professional services teams, helping organizations deliver complex implementations more efficiently and improve client outcomes.

You'll be a high-ownership engineer who loves shipping product from the ground up at an early-stage startup. You'll report directly to the CTO and work alongside a small team of founding engineers in San Francisco.

This is an opportunity to build greenfield products, including a brand-new client-facing dashboard, for a company addressing a $400B+ market.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Building a new client-facing dashboard from the ground up, owning system design choices, UI decisions, and full-stack implementation

  • Architecting and shipping full-stack features across the platform with high code quality and scalability in mind

  • Working on top of existing agent frameworks and data pipelines to deliver new product experiences

  • Collaborating closely with the CTO and founding engineers to make key engineering decisions on new product surfaces

  • Interacting directly with clients to understand how they want to engage with the product

What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of full-stack engineering experience

  • Strong experience with Python and TypeScript

  • Experience owning and shipping customer-facing product features end-to-end

  • Experience working in a startup environment with real customers

  • Strong system design and code architecture skills

  • Good UI/frontend judgment and the ability to build polished interfaces

  • CS or technical degree from a highly regarded university, or an exceptional technical project record demonstrating comparable ability

  • Evidence of high ownership and initiative, including meaningful independent projects, side projects, or other hands-on building experience

  • Comfortable working across the stack rather than specializing exclusively in frontend or backend development

Experience building enterprise-facing dashboards or workflows is especially relevant.

Tech Stack

Python, TypeScript, AWS, LLMs, Agentic Workflows

AWS experience is preferred, although experience with other cloud platforms may be transferable.

Work Environment

This is a highly collaborative, early-stage environment for engineers who are hungry, resourceful, and comfortable operating with significant ownership and ambiguity.

The role is on-site 5 days per week in San Francisco's Financial District. Candidates outside the area must be willing to relocate.

The team operates at an intense startup pace, with workdays typically around 12 hours and occasional weekend work expected.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $200K–$290K

  • Equity: 0.4%–0.7%

  • Higher compensation may be available for exceptional candidates

  • Free meals

  • Unlimited PTO

About the Company

This early-stage enterprise AI company is building technology for forward deployed engineering and professional services teams.

Its platform helps deployment teams shorten time-to-value, increase the number of projects each team member can support, improve visibility into project health and resource planning, and standardize delivery quality across projects and teams.

The company has a small, talent-dense team, has raised approximately $11M in seed funding, and is backed by a leading venture capital firm.

Work Authorization

Visa sponsorship is generally not available for this role. Exceptional candidates with an otherwise outstanding match may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
