Job description

Put your skills and talents to good use by helping the Girl Scouts accomplish our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. This part-time position is assigned to the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program and the 20-24 hour per week work schedule includes scheduled evening troop meetings from 3pm-9pm and 2 Saturdays per month from 2pm to 10pm, with other hours flexible.

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for planning and implementing programs for girls in grades K-12 and serves as an advocate for those children. This position is accountable for integrated management and coordination of all program delivery and support services in designated content, grade level, or geographic areas in and/or across multiple pathways. The coordinator ensures that program development and implementation support the council’s program plan and strategic business goals, maintains strict adherence to safety and security guidelines, promotes the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and outcomes, and/or links to national program curricula. The Program Coordinators work in a variety of settings at Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma and may be employed in the following programs – Girl Scouts Beyond Bars or Staff Led Troops. The essential functions may vary to some degree from one program to another, as well as the different environments where duties are performed.  This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars Program, will be responsible for developing and conducting reconnection efforts for children and their mother through prison visits and attends Department of Corrections Training.
  • In the Staff Led Troops Program, will be responsible for developing and conducting troop meetings in Girl Scout and community facilities, public housing, and/or public schools.
  • Assists in planning and facilitating troop meetings, field trips, and overnight opportunities.
  • Coordinates budget (including grant budgets) to ensure adherence to approved program.
  • Supports functions of the customer care process -Answers, problem-solves, manages and responds appropriately and timely to all inquiries including but not limited to email, phone and walk-in customers. 
  • Responsible for transporting children in a 15-passenger van. 
  • Research information to share with families about community resources to meet basic needs.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers for the effective delivery of program.
  • Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support retention efforts.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license within the state of employment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid & CPR certification.

Physical and Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations, as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as job requires.
