Job description

Hello Caregivers!

A loving family in Byfield is looking for a special needs focused nanny to care for their 19 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome. We are looking for a caregiver who has experience with and/or is welcome and accepting to working with young adults who have special needs. The position will primarily involve keeping her on a regular schedule involving lots of exercise (must be comfortable with long walks), activities, games, 1:1 engagement. She could really benefit from having a nanny to bond with and look up to, so we are hoping for someone that wants to get to know her and provide a warm and loving friendship. The family also has a 15 year old son who will may be present but self-sufficient other than an occasional pick up from the bus stop if needed. The position can be flexible with hours based on the right person's needs. Candidates with lots of energy and a love for music preferred!

**Family has an additional large bedroom over their garage and would be open to a live-in caregiver for the right person!

Hours: Monday-Thursday 2:00-6:00 OR Monday-Thursday 12:00-6:00 if more hours are preferred

Charges: 19 year old daughter

Hourly Rate: $30.00

Start Date: Onboarding starts immediately
Job description:

  • Creating a safe and stimulating environment
  • Facilitating activities and maintaining family schedule
  • Care in all appropriate aspects
  • Indoor and outdoor activity and engagement
  • Stimulating activities and age appropriate games
  • Transporting children from bus stop
  • Walks and outside time
  • Keeping a tidy and organized space
  • General clean up after the day
  • Household management tasks from 12:00-2:00 if more hours are preferred

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience with special needs care preferred
  • Non-smokers only, please.
  • Up-to-date CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Cheery and Helpful Disposition
  • Background Check (provided by agency)
  • Driving Record (provided by agency)
  • Excellent communication skills needed
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Takes good direction on parenting style then requires minimal to no oversight.

Nice to haves:

  • Additional certifications.
  • Experience working with children with Down Syndrome
