Senior Fence Estimator - Commercial and Industrial Fencing - Base Salary to 180k/year - Detroit, MI

  • Our client is a growing specialty contractor that provides commercial and industrial fencing solutions for municipalities, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, manufacturing facilities, government entities, and private-sector clients. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Fence Estimator to join their team.
  • The Senior Fence Estimator will play a critical role in the pre-construction process by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial fencing projects. This individual will work closely with project management, operations, vendors, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive proposals and support successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial fencing projects based on project drawings, specifications, bid documents, and customer requirements.
  • Review project scope and identify labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and scheduling requirements.
  • Analyze project requirements and develop pricing strategies that align with project objectives and profitability goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations personnel during the pre-construction phase.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate project conditions and validate estimating assumptions.
  • Monitor project costs and support budget management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize estimating software and related tools to develop accurate project estimates and reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of fencing materials, installation methods, construction practices, and market pricing trends.
  • Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience estimating commercial and industrial fencing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and computerized takeoff tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction management practices and field operations.
  • Experience negotiating pricing and contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ability to analyze project data and develop accurate, competitive estimates.
