Software Solutions Manager

Position Summary:

You will be on a management team that works in collaboration for the success of the company and for the benefit of the employee owners. Your main responsibility will be to manage the daily activities of the Software Development Team and IT staff. Your direct reports will be located at the Lafayette, Pearl and Knoxville, Tennessee facilities with some remote employees and contractors.

Regarding the Software Solutions Business, you will work in collaboration with Field Sales and Product Management at defining, quoting and developing software product solutions that meet the needs of our customers who are primarily in the electric meter departments of electric utility companies. Our desire is to be the absolute leader in providing software solution products which controls our hardware products, manages electric meter test data and electric meter department assets. You will also work with Customer Service at supporting our existing customer base with appropriate software upgrade releases. You will do all this and more.

Responsibilities:

You will be on a management team that participates in the high-level strategic and operational planning process as well as various operating management decisions, not limited to: Annual Strategic and Operational Planning, IT strategies (AI, Cyber Security, Current Technology, Thin client – Thick Client, Outsourcing peak demands of work, 5-year forecasting for ESOP, R&D Roadmap, Software Product Development and Enhancements, Manpower Planning, Financial Responsibility (profit/loss) for your department, and other items as needed and as requested.

You will work in coordination with Field Sales & Product Management in the following areas: Assist in Customer requirements gathering, Assist in Customer product presentations and Customer meetings, Assist in Customer negotiations, Lead in Contract Review of Software, Assist in the requirements documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification, Assist in Product strategy and roadmap, Assist in work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities, Assist in gathering knowledge about our competition, Assist in Developing the core positioning and messaging for the product, Assist in the pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals, Deliver a monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecast, Develop sales tools and collateral as needed by Field Sales and Product Management, Deliver an overall Software Solutions & IT budget to ensure success, Define and execute on IT strategy and planning, Define and execute on Cyber Security strategy and planning, Other relevant items as needed.

Education: Bachelor's degree in EE or CE or CS

Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience with various aspects of software development and management. Experience with owning a miss and learning from it is expected. Experience in product management and field sales is a plus.
