To excel in 1099 Consulting, you need specialized expertise in your industry, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently, usually backed by relevant academic or professional credentials. What does the typical work structure look like for someone in a 1099 Consulting role?

As a 1099 consultant, you generally operate as an independent contractor rather than a traditional employee, which means you are responsible for sourcing your own clients, managing schedules, and handling your own taxes and benefits. Project duration and responsibility can vary greatly, so you may work simultaneously on multiple projects for different clients with varying timelines and requirements. Most 1099 consultants collaborate directly with client teams, often remotely, and must be proactive in communication and delivering results. This flexible work structure offers autonomy and diverse experiences but also requires strong self-motivation and organizational skills to ensure continued success.

If you thrive in structured environments, enjoy turning ambiguity into clarity, and can balance analysis with stakeholder coordination, we want to connect.

Role Overview

Analysts support the effective delivery of transformation initiatives by coordinating activities, maintaining structured documentation, and enabling alignment across stakeholders. Depending on assignment, this may include change analysis, data analysis, process mapping, project coordination, governance support, process documentation, schedule tracking, and executive-ready reporting. These roles operate at the intersection of strategy and execution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support change management planning and execution across one or more concurrent workstreams
  • Conduct stakeholder analyses, impact assessments, and readiness evaluations
  • Develop change deliverables including communication plans, training support, engagement tools, and executive presentations
  • Capture and maintain structured documentation: meeting notes, decisions, risks, and action items
  • Track adoption metrics and surface insights to support decision-making
  • Coordinate across project teams, business units, and leadership stakeholders to ensure alignment
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Support process documentation and contribute to playbook or operating model development as needed
  • Maintain executive-ready reporting to support leadership visibility

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in change management, organizational development, or program support
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise initiatives such as M&A integration, system implementations, or operating model transformation
  • Proficiency with change frameworks such as ADKAR, Prosci, or similar
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills; familiarity with process mapping a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing precision or follow-through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable operating across executive and operational stakeholder levels
  • Proficiency in tools such as Smartsheet, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar platforms
  • Consulting or 1099 contract experience preferred

Industry experience in higher education, mining, energy, healthcare, or regulated environments is a plus.

What We Look For

  • Structured thinkers who can create order and clarity
  • Professionals who follow through and manage details with accuracy
  • Strong communicators who can balance executive visibility with team-level execution
  • Individuals who can manage multiple workstreams without losing precision
  • Collaborative team players who integrate seamlessly into client environments
  • Individuals who are ready to contribute quickly and operate with a high degree of autonomy
