Job description

Vice President, Tax Equity Solutions

Description

Overview

Bonaventure is seeking a Vice President of Tax Equity Solutions to lead our 1031 exchange practice and serve as the firm's senior advisor on tax-deferred exchange strategies for real estate investors. This is a high-visibility, producer-leader role that combines deep technical expertise in Section 1031 with active business development, client advisory, and team leadership.

You will be at the forefront of educating clients, designing custom solutions, structuring transactions, and converting industry expertise into new business. The role requires frequent travel and a deep working knowledge of 1031 Exchange regulations, real estate, and the competitive tax-deferred exchange landscape.

If you are looking to partner with an expanding company that relentlessly pursues a forward-thinking approach and commits to serving its clients, we want to hear from you.

Who You Are

  • You are a 1031 expert. You know tax deferral strategies like the back of your hand and stay current on every change to the rules.
  • You are a builder. You're tired of working in spreadsheets and want to grow a practice, a book, and a team.
  • You are a closer. You manage relationships, raise tax-deferred exchange equity, and close deals fast and furiously.
  • You are a master problem solver who won't take no for an answer.
  • You are naturally curious and constantly seek innovative solutions, thinking outside the box to tackle challenges and drive success.
  • You are a natural-born leader who owns project timelines, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and leads a team to success.
  • You thrive in an entrepreneurial setting and bring polish and grit in equal measure.

What to Expect

  • Lead the 1031 Practice: You will Oown Bonaventure's 1031 consulting services program end-to-end — analyzing client situations and devising solutions that integrate tax, estate planning, trust, and advanced 1031 exchange tools.
  • Client Advisory & Trusted Counsel: Act as the client's trusted advisor through every stage of the exchange. Educate clients on the transaction process and clearly communicate complex tax and legal concepts with transparency.
  • Transaction Execution: Walk clients through transactions from start to finish. Review transaction documents, timelines, and financial details to minimize potential risks and delays, and ensure each exchange stays on track and is conducted efficiently.
  • Solution Design & Deal Structuring: Create and strategize custom solutions to achieve clients' goals. Structure deals and execute transactions that implement tax deferral strategies aligned with each client's long-term objectives.
  • Business Development: Self-source clients for 1031 exchanges by leveraging Bonaventure’s network, centers of influence, and business development acumen. Identify and target potential clients in the real estate market, manage the pipeline, cultivate gateway relationships, and grow the business through events, conferences, and educational seminars.
  • Revenue Generation: Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals while serving the client's best interests. Build a robust portfolio of local and national clients and manage relationships throughout the entire exchange lifecycle.
  • Client Relationship Management: You own every 1031 client end to end. First handshake, signed close, and every reinvestment after that. Constantly develop relationships with prospective clients while maintaining and deepening existing ones. Conduct educational seminars for current and future clients to drive top-of-funnel awareness and trust.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay continuously updated on tax laws, 1031 regulations, market trends, and the competitive landscape of tax-deferred exchange players and offerings. Translate that intelligence into positioning and product strategy.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with internal teams — RVPs, Portfolio Management, Acquisitions, Business Development, Head of Capital Markets, and the CEO's office — and external partners including tax advisors, attorneys, and CPAs to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Team Sales Support: Support the RVP and Business Development teams by joining sales calls, introducing the 1031 process to clients, and providing transactional counsel to close business across the firm.
  • Goal Setting & Planning: Develop specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely goals (Rocks) that advance personal and professional development and achieve Bonaventure's vision. Build a repeatable, proven process that delivers consistent results across every transaction.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in and industry knowledge of the 1031 exchange business.
  • In-depth understanding of Section 1031 regulations, relevant tax laws and the ability to apply them to complex real estate transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate transactions, property valuation, and market analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive mindset and the capacity to identify legal risks and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to conduct educational seminars.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, solution-oriented, and committed to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to travel domestically on a frequent basis.
