Job description

Build precision parts that put critical pumps back in service

At Hydro, Inc.—the Chicago-headquartered, global leader in industrial pump reengineering and the largest independent pump rebuilder since 1969—your machining expertise has real impact.

Picture this: a large refurbished component arrives. You review the drawing with both conventional and GD&T callouts, lay out the tools, stage the raw material, and write or refine the Mazatrol program. You set up the Mazak lathe, verify workholding, and adjust speeds and feeds. As you turn the part to within 0.001 inch, you verify dimensions with precision measuring tools, compute a bolt circle, and collaborate with the shop team to move it to the next operation—confident in the quality you produced. That’s a typical success story on our 2nd Shift.

Responsibilities
  • Program Mazak lathes using Mazatrol; modify existing programs for custom parts and components.
  • Independently set up and operate CNC lathes and mills with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Complete setups on a variety of large, refurbished pump parts.
  • Plan tool layouts and prepare raw materials for machining.
  • Machine from raw stock and castings to 0.001 inch tolerances.
  • Read/interpret drawings with conventional tolerances and GD&T.
  • Optimize speeds and feeds to drive productivity and surface finish.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to validate results.
  • Apply shop math to calculate radii, bolt circles, and other dimensions.
  • Work effectively with the Hydro shop team and independently.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience on Mazak lathes with Mazatrol control.
  • Proven ability to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills.
  • Experience with tool layout and raw material setup.
  • Fluent in blueprint reading, including GD&T.
  • Proficiency with varied measuring tools and strong applied math skills.

Grow with Hydro: Expect excellent compensation for the right candidate and a strong career growth opportunity.
