Job description

Direct Counsel is representing a highly regarded Midwest law firm seeking a Trademark / IP Transactions Associate to join one of the region's premier Intellectual Property practices.

Locations: Ohio (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati)

This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys both trademark counseling and transactional work. Rather than focusing solely on prosecution, you'll work alongside nationally recognized IP and Corporate attorneys on sophisticated mergers, acquisitions, private equity transactions, licensing matters, and technology agreements.

If you're looking for a practice that blends soft IP with high-level corporate work, this role offers a unique career path that few firms can provide.

What You'll Do
  • Counsel clients on domestic and international trademark portfolios.
  • Handle trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement, and strategic counseling.
  • Support M&A and private equity transactions involving intellectual property assets.
  • Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licenses and technology agreements.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions.
  • Work directly with Corporate, Private Equity, and Intellectual Property attorneys on sophisticated client matters.
What They're Looking For
  • J.D. and active bar admission.
  • Experience with trademark prosecution and counseling.
  • Experience supporting corporate, M&A, private equity, technology, or IP transactions.
  • Strong drafting and client communication skills.
  • Attorneys with a mix of trademark and transactional experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice.
  • Sophisticated middle-market M&A and private equity work.
  • Collaborative hybrid environment with flexibility based on performance.
  • Meaningful client contact and long-term growth.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
