Job description

OSHIIP is seeking candidates to assist the Medicare consumers of Ohio, their family members, and caregivers in understanding their insurance benefits and resolving their complex insurance issues. The ideal candidates will have excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills, a high level of emotional intelligence, and the ability to be adaptable.

What You'll Do:
Your Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Answering incoming phone calls related to Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicare Prescription Drug benefits, Medicare Advantage and other Medicare related topics.
• Utilize web-based tools to compare plans and articulate information in digestible terms to consumers
• Facilitate enrollment into cost-effective plans and financial assistance programs.
• Make appropriate referrals to other divisions or agencies.
• Document and report all consumer interactions.
• Communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
24 mos. exp. in insurance field (i.e., regulatory or industry) working with insureds or insurance contracts (e.g., health, life, annuities, personal lines, commercial lines, federal health care programs); 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in operation of personal computer; 2 courses in basic mathematics (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
-Or 2 courses in insurance & 2 course in basic mathematics (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); 18 mos. exp. in insurance field (i.e., regulatory or industry) working with insureds or insurance contracts (e.g., health, life, annuities, personal lines, commercial lines); 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in operation of personal computer.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in insurance or business; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in operation of personal computer & 2 courses in basic mathematics (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
