Position Overview

The Talent Acquisition Manager leads a team of talent acquisition professionals responsible for delivering strategic, high-quality recruitment services across multiple academic units. This role oversees a team of five recruiters and one talent acquisition coordinator, ensuring effective execution of full-cycle recruitment activities for faculty, staff, student, and leadership positions across the health science colleges at the university.

Serving as both a people leader and strategic talent advisor, the Manager partners with university and HR leaders to develop workforce planning strategies, enhance recruitment effectiveness, strengthen employer branding efforts, and ensure equitable, compliant hiring practices. The Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence, monitoring recruitment performance metrics, developing team capabilities, and continuously improving the candidate and hiring manager experience.

Working within one of the nation's largest and most complex higher education institutions, the Manager must effectively navigate a highly matrixed environment while balancing strategic priorities, operational demands, compliance requirements, and exceptional customer service. This position is part of a highly collaborative leadership team that works in a hybrid environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

80% - Talent Acquisition Leadership and Team Management

Provides direct leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development for a team of talent acquisition professionals responsible for recruiting faculty, staff and students for the university's campus operations. Establishes clear expectations, service standards, and recruiting priorities to ensure alignment with university goals and shared values.

Leads team meetings, workload distribution, resource planning, and ensures strong partnerships with HR teams across assigned colleges. Develops recruiter capabilities in consultative hiring, strategic sourcing, stakeholder management, compliance, and emerging recruitment technologies. Creates a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Supports complex and high-priority searches, provides guidance on difficult recruitment challenges, and serves as an escalation point for hiring managers and HR colleagues. Partners with central HR operations such as compensation and benefits and other stakeholders to ensure effective integration and consistency across talent management processes. Uses variety of reporting tools to track and analyze data and make strategic recommendations.

20% - Special Projects and Organizational Initiatives

As a member of the Talent Acquisition leadership team, develops and executes strategic talent acquisition initiatives (including pre-boarding, process redesign efforts, employer branding programs, and other projects that support university priorities and align with the shared values. Represents Talent Acquisition on cross-functional committees, workgroups, and enterprise-wide initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field
  • 5 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition and/or human resources

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition and/or human resources
  • Experience recruiting in a large, complex higher education organization
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment technologies, applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms, preferably Workday
  • Demonstrated savvy with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Demonstrated AI proficiency in sourcing, workflow automation, prompt engineering and consultative talent advising
