Job description

Controller

Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Controller. Located in Grove City, Ohio, this role allows you to utilize your problem-solving skills and innovative mindset to influence the financial health of a mission-driven organization dedicated to social service. By fostering a customer-centric approach, you will collaborate closely with various teams to support our commitment to community welfare.

The chance to contribute to impactful initiatives while shaping financial strategies will be both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling. Embrace this opportunity to be a reliable partner in our mission to alleviate hunger and strengthen communities across Ohio.

Your role as a Controller

The Controller at MOFC plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's accounting needs are met with precision and accountability. This position is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, which is essential for fostering trust and transparency within the community. The Controller will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of accounting systems and internal controls, working diligently to develop processes that safeguard assets and manage cash flows effectively.

An organized professional with keen attention to detail, the Controller will also prepare and present financial reports, conduct bank reconciliations, and collaborate across functions to align accounting tasks with organizational goals. Additional duties such as training staff on accounting systems and creating a standard operating procedures manual will further solidify the Controller's impact on the organization's financial integrity and operational efficiency.

What you need to be successful

To excel as the Controller at MOFC, candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, with a CPA designation preferred. A minimum of five years of accounting experience, including expertise in general ledger management, sub-ledgers, close cycles, audits, and financial reporting, is essential. Proficiency in GAAP is mandatory, along with high competency in Financial and Productivity systems, particularly within nonprofit environments.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical skills and have a thorough understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and applicable regulations. The ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines is crucial, as is proficiency in both verbal and written communication. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work collaboratively across functions, and demonstrate a proactive approach in driving financial accuracy and integrity for the organization.
