Basic Functions and Scope of Job:

Following training to operate and maintain our unique machines, the Machine Operator is responsible for all set-ups, machine settings, and quality checks to ensure products are manufactured to tight and exact tolerances.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Make necessary adjustments to the machine to keep parts within dimensional tolerances.
  • Perform preventive maintenance & periodic quality checks.
  • Perform minor repairs of equipment if breakdown occurs.
  • Work from layout, makeshift, and conventional jigs and fixtures
  • Inventory, receive, and stow large bundles of steel stock; retrieve material and load machine.
  • Adhere to all company procedures, including quality and safety.
  • Material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Machines:

Modula Inc. uses various automated and robotic machines to manufacture our products. Our openings may be for specific machines, but we will entertain any interested applicant.

  • S4/P4: Made by Salvagnini, the S4+P4 line is an automated machine combo that punches, shears, and bends sheet metal.
  • SIR: Made by SIR S.p.A., the SIR is a fully automated robotic welder.
  • L3: Made by Salvagnini, the L3 is an automated fiber laser cutter.
  • LT8: Made by the BLM Group, the LT8 is an automated laser tube cutting machine.
  • B3: Made by Salvagnini, the B3 is a press brake.

Qualifications and Skills:

This role is pivotal in supporting production efforts. The individual in this position must have a high degree of integrity, resourcefulness, and professionalism in working with colleagues and clients, whether directly or indirectly. Relationship building, client service, and the ability to follow up in a timely manner are critical for success. The ideal candidate will have relative experience, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and mechanical aptitude.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience is required, automated manufacturing experience a plus; combination of education and experience can be considered; experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma or its equivalent is required, vocational training in CNC machine setup and electrical work or another related field preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills are required; proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and sketches is a must.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, measuring instruments, and power tools is a must.
  • Written, oral, and deductive comprehension skills to effectively understand written processes to perform role with the highest regard for Safety and Quality is a must; ability to communicate technical details is a must.
  • Strong math comprehension, including basic geometry, is a must.
  • Ability to operate a computer and its applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is a must.
  • Consistent attendance reliability is an expectation
