Which 5 jobs will survive AI?

Remote robot operators are likely to continue working as AI and automation handle routine tasks, but human oversight remains essential for complex decision-making and troubleshooting. Jobs requiring creativity, emotional intelligence, and advanced technical skills, such as healthcare professionals, software developers, educators, managers, and skilled tradespeople, are expected to persist despite AI advancements.

How to become a robot operator?

To become a robot operator, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, along with technical training or certification in robotics, automation, or related fields. Gaining experience with robotic systems, understanding programming languages like Python or C++, and developing troubleshooting skills are also important for this role.

What is the difference between Remote Robot Operator vs Remote Drone Pilot?

AspectRemote Robot OperatorRemote Drone Pilot
CredentialsRobotics certifications, technical trainingFAA drone licenses, FAA Part 107 certification
Work EnvironmentIndoor control rooms, remote locationsOutdoor or indoor aerial operations, remote control
Industry UsageManufacturing, logistics, researchPhotography, surveying, inspection
Common Search IntentRemote robotic systems, automation jobsDrone operation, aerial remote work

Remote Robot Operators and Remote Drone Pilots both operate remotely, often requiring technical certifications. While Remote Robot Operators focus on controlling robotic systems in various industries like manufacturing, Remote Drone Pilots specialize in flying drones for tasks such as inspection or photography. The roles overlap in remote operation skills but differ in equipment and industry applications.

What are Remote Robot Operators?

Remote Robot Operators are professionals who control robots or robotic systems from a distance, often using specialized software and interfaces. They may operate robots for tasks such as warehouse logistics, manufacturing, surveillance, or telepresence in hazardous environments. This role requires technical proficiency, quick problem-solving skills, and the ability to monitor multiple systems simultaneously. Remote Robot Operators are essential in industries that rely on automation and need human oversight to ensure safety and efficiency.

How much do robotics operators make?

Robotics operators typically earn between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced operators with specialized skills or certifications can earn higher salaries, especially in manufacturing or automation environments.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Robot Operators, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Robot Operators often encounter challenges such as latency in controls, unexpected environmental variables, and communication barriers with onsite teams. Managing these issues typically requires strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with troubleshooting hardware and software remotely, and excellent communication to quickly relay information or request assistance. Continuous training and regular coordination with engineering and support teams help operators adapt to new technologies and maintain efficient, safe robot operations.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A remote robot operator can potentially earn $10,000 a month by managing and controlling robots or automated systems, often requiring technical skills, familiarity with control software, and the ability to troubleshoot remotely. High earnings typically depend on experience, specialization, and the complexity of the tasks performed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Robot Operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Robot Operator, you need a solid understanding of robotics, mechanical systems, and computer operation, often supported by technical training or certifications in robotics or related fields. Familiarity with remote control software, teleoperation systems, and troubleshooting tools is commonly required. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These abilities are crucial for ensuring safe, efficient, and effective operation of remote robotic systems across various industries.

Job description

Simbe Robotics is a leading retail robotics company providing in-store intelligence solutions that help retailers optimize operations, improve shelf execution, and deliver valuable data insights. Our autonomous robots and multi-modal data collection systems are transforming how retailers manage inventory and make data-driven decisions.
ย
Position Overview
We are seeking a Robotics Software Test & QA Engineer to help ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of Simbe's robotics software through strong testing practices, automated test coverage, and continuous regression testing. In this role, you'll work closely with software engineers to design and maintain testing strategies, monitor and operate a local fleet of test robots, and rapidly triage issues uncovered through continuous testing. The ideal candidate is technically hands-on, methodical, and comfortable debugging complex software behavior across robot and cloud components.
ย
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with software engineers to develop testing practices, improve testability, and build automated tests.
  • Constantly monitor (manually and automatically) our fleet of local test robots and run continuous regression tests.
  • Support triage, debugging, and root cause analysis of issues discovered through automated and manual testing.
  • Assist with robot setup, configuration, and validation in support of internal testing and release readiness.
  • Document issues methodically, providing clear visibility into reproduction steps, impact, and resolution status.
  • Continuously improve test tooling, pipelines, and quality signals to increase the speed and quality of defect detection.
Required Qualifications
  • Deep working knowledge of Linux systems and command-line tools.
  • Working competence scripting in languages like Python (or similar).
  • Understanding of C++ and Python code (reading/debugging across both).
  • Experience with testing frameworks like gtest (or similar test frameworks).
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Familiarity with statistics or data-science tools & methodsย
  • Strong understanding of wired and wireless networking concepts (IPv4, NetworkManager, WPA2 security, etc.).
  • Methodical and detail-oriented in debugging, triaging, and documenting issues.
  • Calm, patient, and communicative, especially when collaborating across teams.
  • Comfortable resolving unknown problems using research, experimentation, and AI tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related disciplineย
  • Familiarity with robot operating systems (ROS/ROS2) and related tools.
  • Prior experience testing or supporting autonomous robots, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with remote monitoring and diagnostic tools for distributed systems.
$85,000 - $115,000 a year
The base salary offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity compensation, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
ย
Simbe's approach emphasizes total rewards - base pay, equity, incentives, and benefits - rather than viewing compensation as cash alone. We believe the full package, including ownership through equity and well-being support, is what drives engagement, retention, and alignment with our mission.
At Simbe, you will be at the forefront of retail innovation, working with cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies to transform retail operations. Our culture is dynamic, inclusive, and driven by a passion for improving the way retailers operate and serve their customers. Join us to be a part of a team that is not only reshaping the future of retail but also offering immense value to our clients worldwide.
