Job description

BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments.  Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state.  BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval. 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Knowledge in BWC Business operations (injury/claims management)

  • Oversee three types of instructor-led training (ILT) curriculums (webinars, virtual training classes, and in-person classes) offered primarily to internal customers
  • Develop and deliver courses for all employees: research and assesses training needs by meeting and consulting with project managers and subject matter experts
  • Facilitate, organize, schedule, and host virtual training events using a remote meeting platform, currently Microsoft Teams
  • Develop action plan by analyzing scope document to determine timeline for project completion
  • Research latest training technique, training materials, computer software, and professional journals

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:
Required Experience and/or Education

  • 6 courses in human resources, education, sociology or psychology or 18 mos exp in preparing informational or instructional programs AND 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills AND 3 mos trg or 3 mos exp in operating audio-visual equipment**. 
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. 

**Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation may consider the use of presentation features through Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WebEx as operating audio-visual equipment. Applicants are expected to demonstrate their proficiency and level of experience with one or more of the previously listed platforms in their application.

Knowledge of BWC Training Dept. policies, programs & practices*; WC Claims Management, WC employer operations (e.g., experience rating, premium discount programs), public relations, desktop and laptop personal computers & related software (e.g., Word, Power Point), instructional design (how to place different concepts, breaks in information, etc.), needs assessments techniques and processes (surveys, interviews, customer feedback), human behavior and/or education dealing with foundations such as transfer of learning, motivation and evaluation, claims management laws, policies and procedures, claims management system (CoreSuite, Medical Invoice Information System, Portal and Cambridge).
Skill to apply Risk/Claims Operations procedures.  Skill in effectively discussing a variety of job-related topics on short notice and to handle rapid changes in conversation involving difficult questions, preparing & delivering presentations before specialized audience & general public, speaking before groups for the purpose of providing information or explaining departmental procedures and policies, effective communication skills, project planning and course development processes, Microsoft Office and/or Adobe software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint), scheduling materials (i.e., on-line calendars, dayplanner), developing participant and instructor manuals, use of the internet,  operation of audio-visual equipment (e.g., TV, VCR, multimedia projector, flipchart, overhead projector, Microsoft Teams), use of desktop and laptop personal computers, maintaining accurate records, time management, organizational skills, facilitating skills.
Ability to deal with abstract variables, reproduce material accurately, recognize grammatical & spelling errors, proofread training materials, prepares accurate reports, define problems, collect data, and establish facts in order to draw valid conclusions and create action steps for resolutions, gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things, apply adult learning principles in development of training materials (Human Performance Model), to tactfully handle sensitive inquiries and difficult situations.
