Electrical Engineer


Location: Reynoldsburg, OH (Onsite)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Overview:

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of electrical control systems for material handling systems. This role will focus on electrical design, PLC programming, HMI development, commissioning, and field support for complex conveyor and automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and commission electrical control systems including panels, components, devices, and machinery for material handling systems.

• Create electrical control system designs and detailing using CAD software, including wiring diagrams, control panels, and electrical device layouts.

• Program PLCs for material handling systems utilizing platforms such as ControlLogix, Mitsubishi, Omron, GE, and Siemens.

• Design HMI screens for industrial systems using platforms such as GE, PanelView, and PROFACE.

• Define electrical components and generate Bills of Material (BOMs) that satisfy customer specifications and system requirements.

• Develop system documentation including Sequence of Operations and functional technical specifications.

• Perform calculations related to:

  • Control panel power distribution
  • Cycle time validation
  • Safe distance calculations
  • Control system communications (ENet, DNet)
  • VFD parameter validation and load sharing

• Lead commissioning activities for PLC logic and HMI systems during shop trials and field installations.

• Perform plant and construction site inspections and oversee installation activities with electricians, millwrights, and pipefitters.

• Assist with troubleshooting and debugging field wiring and control system issues.

• Lead project meetings and generate meeting minutes.

• Interface directly with customer engineers to gather system requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Supervise and support junior engineers, including task assignments and work review.

• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.


Qualifications:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D required; AutoCAD 3D or similar software preferred.

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical control systems.

• Experience with PLC programming platforms including ControlLogix, Mitsubishi, Omron, GE, and Siemens.

• Experience designing HMI interfaces.

• Strong electrical troubleshooting and wiring knowledge.

• Familiarity with electrical codes and standards including NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, ANSI, and OSHA requirements.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with material handling systems preferred.

• Automotive manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

• Ability to work weekends, nights, overtime, and holidays as required.

• Ability to travel to project sites, including international travel to Canada and Mexico.

• Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding and stand or walk for extended periods as needed.


Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

• 5–10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering and control systems design.
