Job description

Title Java/ Python - AWS Developer Location Columbus, OH Client Industry Fintech Compensation $60-65/ hr Ref ID 1689837 Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support scalable services using Java and Python, deployed and operated on AWS.
  • Build and maintain automation and tooling (Java/Python) to improve environment readiness and consistency (health checks, dependency validation, configuration verification, smoke checks).
  • Implement and operate CI/CD improvements (pre-flight checks, quality gates, automated verification) to reduce failures, rework, and time-to-unblock.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across AWS and distributed systems (IAM/permissions, networking/connectivity, secrets/configuration, dependency failures) and drive resolution to closure.
  • Modernize existing Java/Python/AWS applications to improve reliability, maintainability, and engineering velocity; contribute to architecture and design artifacts as needed.
  • Produce and maintain runbooks, operational documentation, and self-service guidance to reduce tribal knowledge and improve supportability.
  • Collaborate with partner teams (platform/SRE, security, dependency service owners, product teams) to gather requirements, align on solutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes under changing priorities.
  • Uphold strong engineering standards (code quality, testing discipline, security, resiliency) and mentor other engineers as needed.

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience building and operating services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, RDS).

  • Strong hands-on Python experience (automation, tooling, diagnostics, integrations).
  • Experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker) and implementing automated validation and quality gates.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application and infrastructure boundaries; able to isolate issues using logs/metrics and drive root-cause fixes.
  • Strong ownership mindset: independently drives ambiguous problems from discovery plan alignment execution measurable outcomes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; proactively engages stakeholders to unblock delivery.
