Ohio State University Postdoctoral Scholar in Extremism and Polarization
Department Overview:
The social psychology program at Ohio State University and the Collaborative on the Science of Polarization and Misinformation (C-SPAM) are dedicated to advancing research in the psychology of extremism, polarization, misinformation, and morality. Funded by the Templeton Foundation and Ohio State University, we offer a collaborative and dynamic research environment.
Job Summary:
We are seeking up to four postdoctoral scholars to join our team starting as soon as August 1, 2025. These positions will support individuals interested in examining the psychology of extremism, polarization, misinformation, and/or morality. Scholars will primarily work with Professors Richard E. Petty and/or Kurt Gray, with opportunities to collaborate with other OSU faculty and graduate students.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct laboratory work centered around empirical studies (60%)
  • Process and analyze experimental data, engage in collaborative research activities, and prepare results for publication (30%)
  • Mentor and work alongside undergraduate and graduate students working on similar projects; performs other duties as required (10%)

Qualifications:
  • Completed doctoral degree in psychology or a related field by the start date.
  • Strong theoretical or practical background in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Python) and survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications or manuscripts in preparation.
