Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of experiments regarding the study of the disease mechanisms of various brain disorders using murine models and iPSC-derived human neurons. The Postdoctoral Associate will perform small animal surgeries, molecular, cellular and electrophysiological experiments. In addition, the Postdoctoral Associate will provide research guidance to residents, junior research assistants, graduate students and student workers in the laboratory. The Postdoctoral Associate is responsible for the scientific operations of the laboratory and submits grant applications to obtain independent research funding.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs in vivo animal experiments using mice, performing small craniotomies for injection of chemical and viral vectors, and for implantation of multiple stimulation and recording electrodes.
  • Designs, executes, and analyzes research studies using intracranial EEG data from animals.
  • Performs advanced signal processing and time-frequency analyses of neural recordings.
  • Develops and implements computational pipelines using MATLAB, Python, or similar platforms.
  • Leads manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals and presents findings at national and international conferences.
  • Contributes to grant writing and research proposals (e.g., NIH, foundations).

Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
