Job Summary
The Mechanical Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for estimating, planning, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role combines detailed cost estimating with full project management responsibilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Scope of Work
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related systems
  • Manage mechanical construction projects from award through completion
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for scope, constructability, and risk
  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and performance
  • Support change order pricing, negotiation, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate project estimates, budgets, and schedules
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination meetings
  • Manage subcontractors and field personnel to ensure project milestones are met
  • Track project costs, forecast final costs, and identify potential overruns or savings
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Coordinate material deliveries and equipment installations
  • Maintain project documentation, including contracts, logs, and reports
  • Communicate project status to internal leadership and clients
  • Ensure projects meet company quality standards and client expectations
Essential Duties
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing using estimating software and vendor quotes
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps or conflicts
  • Prepare and submit bids and proposals by required deadlines
  • Develop project schedules and manpower projections
  • Manage billing, progress payments, and project closeout documentation
  • Resolve project issues, including design conflicts, schedule delays, and cost impacts
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify work compliance
  • Enforce jobsite safety policies and procedures
Position Requirements
  • License/Certifications - Journeyman in field of expertise preferred
  • Education - High School Graduate
  • Experience - Requires least 7 years of experience in the field
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office and active construction site environments
  • Regular interaction with construction sites, including exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions
  • May require extended hours, early mornings, evenings, or weekends to meet project deadlines
  • Occasional travel to job sites, meetings, or vendor locations
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction sites for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas as required
