The BSA/AML department is dedicated to protecting the Bank from illicit activity related to money laundering and terrorist financing.

A BSA Quality Control (QC) Analyst is a BSA/AML industry expert with strong attention to detail who adheres to department policies, procedures and regulations. This role combines technical expertise while ensuring high-quality work, regulatory compliance, and consistent application of department policies and procedures.

Below is a list of essential functions of this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The role supports various processes covered by the BSA Policy, including anti-money laundering (AML)/countering the financing of terrorism (CFT), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance.
• Responsible for conducting quality control activities on BSA alerts which include but are not limited to typologies in the AML, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), OFAC, and 314(a) workflows.
• Responsible for conducting quality control activities on Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and other monitoring as assigned.
• Responsible for conducting quality control activities on AML, CTR Exemption, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and other cases.
• Responsible for conducting quality control activities on Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
• Provides clear and concise written and verbal feedback to the team members and assists with questions as necessary.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable regulations including BSA/AML, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual, and department policy and procedures.

POSITION LEVEL EXPECTATIONS

• This role provides independent, ongoing monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance, internal policy adherence, and data integrity, as well as adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls.
• Responsible for completing assigned work within SLA, as well as completing work to procedural and regulatory standards.
• Conduct root-cause analysis to identify systemic issues or procedural weaknesses.
• Provide effective and timely communication to management on matters requiring attention and provide timely and essential communication to the team as required.
• Support the design, maintenance, and execution of AML/BSA Quality Control (QC) Procedure
• Comfort in operating in ambiguity; executing sound judgment when procedures or policy have room for interpretation. It is not expected that policy/procedure will cover every scenario. It is necessary to have a curious mindset coupled with strong risk management and logical thinking skills.
• Specific BSA Quality Control Analyst I Responsibilities:
• BSA Alert QC activities
• BSA CTR QC activities
• BSA EDD Case QC activities
• BSA Manual Monitoring QC activities
• Specific BSA Quality Control Analyst II Responsibilities, additional to the above:
• BSA AML Case activities
• BSA SAR QC activities
• Serving as a member of SAR review committee
• Assisting with additional duties, including assignment management

Take advantage of training and learning opportunities to further increase BSA knowledge. Continue professional development by voluntarily participating in elective courses, webinars, and seminars. Communicate with peers concerning BSA/AML/Fraud issues. Department training opportunities are available several times throughout the year. Some travel may be required to other department locations.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE LEVEL I

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential position requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below.

• Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year College preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A background screening will be conducted
• Required: Minimum of 5 years of direct BSA/AML experience
• Preferred: 1-2 years of prior BSA/AML quality control, or equivalent, experience
• Preferred: CAMS or CFE certification, or equivalent

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents. Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization. Ability to communicate with clients directly and effectively.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to utilize telephone systems and possess good digital literacy including email, internet, and intranet use. Prior experience using BSA monitoring systems preferred but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.
