Job description

Description:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company tractors, trailers, and fleet equipment.
  • Perform tire replacements, tire repairs, rotations, and inspections as needed.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace brake components, including brake chambers, slack adjusters, drums, and related components.
  • Diagnose and repair basic tractor and semi-trailer mechanical issues to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Perform semi-trailer repairs and maintenance, including doors, lighting, wiring, suspension components, landing gear, and other trailer-related systems.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace air lines and related air system components.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and identify potential maintenance or safety concerns before they become major issues.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, and other scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and service history.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and supplies and communicate when replacements are needed.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed safely and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and aftermarket components as needed.
  • Coordinate with fleet and operations personnel to prioritize repairs and return equipment to service as efficiently as possible.
  • Perform other general fleet maintenance and repair duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • General understanding of semi-truck and trailer mechanical systems.
  • Formal diesel mechanic training or certification is a plus, practical hands-on experience is highly valued.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance or a similar role, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining or repairing tractors, semi-trailers, or other heavy-duty fleet equipment.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic systems is a plus.
