Job description

Who We Are:

Foxen advances financial wellness through multi-family real estate. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, we provide a platform of compliance solutions for multifamily property owners, operators and residents.

We've built a profitable, growing business in a challenging market.  Customers stay and expand with us.  Our product portfolio continues to deepen.  And we still have significant room to grow.

That kind of momentum takes a specific kind of person: high standards, a builder's mindset, and ambition without ego. If that sounds like you, you'll find a supportive place to grow here.

What You'll Do:

As Compliance Manager, you'll be responsible for building and operationalizing Foxen's compliance program, ensuring that regulatory, contractual, and internal legal obligations are clearly defined, tracked, and managed across the business. You will report to Foxen's Chief Legal & Insurance Officer, with a dotted line to Foxen's Senior Director, Associate General Counsel.

This role will support legal compliance across a range of regulatory and operational areas. It is a hands-on role focused on establishing visibility into compliance obligations and ensuring the business is equipped to meet them. You will work cross-functionally with Operations, Insurance Solutions, Product, IT Security and other business teams to translate requirements into practical workflows and drive accountability across the organization.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives building structure out of ambiguity and is energized by creating scalable processes that enable the business to manage risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the day-to-day monitoring and tracking of state and federal legislative and regulatory activity across insurance, landlord-tenant, Fair Housing, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and consumer privacy laws, within a monitoring scope set jointly with Legal; provide clear summaries that enable Legal to assess business impact and advise the business.
  • Translate approved policies and governance decisions into documented processes, controls and supporting materials that drive consistent execution across the business.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews, track findings and lead remediation efforts through completion to strengthen operational compliance and accountability.
  • Manage Secretary of State registrations, entity maintenance, insurance licensing, agency appointments and regulatory filings to keep Foxen's entities in good standing across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Design and deliver compliance training that equips teams to understand regulatory requirements and apply company policies with confidence.
  • Partner with Finance, IT/Security and Legal to support vendor compliance reviews, maintain SOC 2 Type II readiness, and strengthen data governance and audit preparedness.
  • Support Foxen's internal compliance committees by preparing materials, tracking action items, and driving follow-through so governance decisions are implemented effectively.
What You Bring:
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience in compliance, ideally within insurance, financial services, landlord-tenant/housing, or another heavily regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience; a J.D. is not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and synthesize complex regulatory developments into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
  • Experience building and improving operational compliance programs, policies or controls across multiple business functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple regulatory obligations simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience coordinating licensing, corporate filings or other multi-jurisdiction compliance activities in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong judgment in knowing when to escalate matters requiring legal interpretation while independently driving operational execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners and lead initiatives that improve compliance outcomes without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across Legal and the broader business.
What We Offer:

As a Compliance Manager, you'll enjoy competitive pay, bonus opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being both inside and outside of work. Our benefits include your choice of three health insurance plans, voluntary dental and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, a 401(k) with a 4% company match, and an annual learning & development stipend. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Chief Legal & Insurance Officer with occasional travel required for training and company events.
