Job Title: Project Engineer II / Assistant Project Manager


Location: Columbus, OH


About the Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Engineer II / Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Columbus, OH. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, with the first assignment being an airport project. If you have a strong background in mechanical contracting and a passion for project management, we want to hear from you!


Key Responsibilities:


- Project Management: Assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from planning and scheduling to execution and closeout.

- Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and quality standards are maintained.

- Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFI’s, submittals, and change orders.

- Cost Control:Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective project delivery.

- Scheduling:Develop and update project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to deadlines.

- Quality Assurance: Ensure all work complies with project specifications, building codes, and safety standards.

- Client Relations: Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

- Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.


Qualifications:


- Experience: 2-5 years of established experience in project management, preferably with a mechanical contractor.

- Education: A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. HVAC/Plumbing experience working for a mechanical contracting company or through internship experience is highly valued.

- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

-*Technical Proficiency:Proficient in project management software and tools. Experience with scheduling software is a plus.

- Flexibility: Willingness to travel as required by project needs.

- Preferred Background: Experience working on large-scale projects valued at $10 million and upwards, with a preference for those experienced in assisting Project Managers with RFIs, cost coding, and working with other Project Engineers/APMs.

- Career Path: This role is designed to eventually move into a Project Manager (PM) position.

- Adaptability: We can be flexible on degree and experience, but a mechanical contracting background is preferred. Some flexibility on candidates working for a General Contractor or A&E firm.
