The Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing is seeking candidates to fill an Investigator position. ย The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge &/or experience in Real Estate or related field. The investigator will:
- Independently conduct thorough, timely investigations of complaints alleging violations of laws assigned to the Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing. These include but are not limited to:
ย ย ย ย ย -Real estate license laws (ORC 4735)
ย ย ย ย ย -Real estate appraiser & appraisal management company laws (ORC 4763 & ORC 4768)
ย ย ย ย ย -Home inspector laws (ORC 4764)
ย ย ย ย ย -Manufactured home dealership, broker, & salesperson laws (ORC 4781)ย - Gather & assemble facts/evidence based on complaints. This will include:
ย ย ย ย ย -Interviewing parties & potential witnesses to determine facts of the case
ย ย ย ย ย ย -Reviewing all evidence & records obtained from various sources - Preparing memorandums of interviews & follow-up correspondence
ย ย ย ย ย -Assemble evidence, records & files to write detailed investigative reports
ย ย ย ย ย -Assist in the documenting, preparing & presentation of cases by legal counsel before an administrative hearing officer &/or other applicable governing boards & agencies. This may include testifying regarding investigative findings - Other duties include:
ย ย ย ย -Answering inquiries from the public & regulated parties
ย ย ย ย -Performing compliance audits on accounts, offices, &/or continuing education programs/providers
ย ย ย ย -Visiting brokerage offices to review files and trust accounts

30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. investigative exp. with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved position description; valid driver's license.
-Or Completion of associate core program in law enforcement, criminal justice or in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 12 mos. exp. conducting investigations &/or inspections; valid driver's license.
-Or 30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. exp. as Investigator Assistant, 26210 with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved position description; valid driver's license.ย
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Preferred qualifications:
-Previous experience in Real Estate or related field
-Previous professional experience in any or all of the following:
Investigating alleged code violations (e.g., ORC, OAC)
Preparing & submitting detailed investigatory reports
Auditing &/or compliance
