Job description

The Dawes Arboretum is actively recruiting a Digital Media Specialist (Social Media) to join our Marketing & Communications team. This is a full-time, exempt level position.

The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing digital strategies that advance The Arboretum’s mission and visibility. This position manages integrated campaigns across social media, paid search, and other digital channels by creating, curating, and managing engaging content that promotes meaningful interaction, strengthens brand presence, and fosters connection.

Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

·         Develop and implement a social media content calendar in alignment with organizational priorities, seasonal programming, and centennial goals.

·         Create, manage and share creative multi-media content on social media, web and other platforms to strategically engage the public; actively monitor and analyze the effectiveness of The Arboretum’s online channels.

·         Plan and produce videos, photos and digital marketing materials for print and digital campaigns.

·         Manage social media related graphic design content, ensuring effective messaging and engagement.

·         Collaborate and consult with internal stakeholders to generate ideas and produce engaging content that highlights the diverse expertise, initiatives, and resources of The Arboretum in ways that further the organization’s mission and goals.

·         Research and implement new social media tools and communication trends.

·         Identify audiences, create specific strategies, establish engagement funnels, proactively identify interests and concerns of stakeholders, tailor messaging and devise effective calls to action.

·         Monitor, engage and respond to external public inquiries and comments on all Arboretum social media platforms in a timely, professional and comprehensive manner that reflects The Arboretum’s values and a focus on maintaining integrity, managing a positive reputation and building community relationships. Foster an inclusive online community that celebrates nature, learning and belonging.

·         Manage Google Ad Grant, Google Analytics, and the Google Business Interface, as well as digital advertising campaigns.

·         Monitor and respond to business reviews on all platforms, tracking sentiment, surfacing issues and documenting for internal analysis.

·         Support media and public relations efforts as needed through content amplification and digital storytelling.

·        Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·        Two (2) years of demonstrated experience as a communications professional managing social media and/or Search Engine Optimization (SEO); or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

·         Proficiency in major social media platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems.

·         Familiarity with photography, videography, and basic editing tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)

·         Excellent communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and storytelling skills with attention to tone and accessibility.

·         Experience using social media advertising tools, analytics and managing paid campaigns.

·         Excellent organization and project planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure, balance competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.

·         Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.

·         Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.

·         Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

The annual salary range for this position is $45,000-$51,000.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement upon successful completion of onboarding and demonstrated ability to perform duties independently. This specific hybrid schedule requires a minimum of three (3) days per week in-office and is subject to supervisor approval, operational needs, and sustained performance. Hybrid status is not guaranteed and may be modified or discontinued at any time based on business needs.
