Electrical Project Manager

Position Overview


Our client is a leading electrical contractor in Columbus that is seeking a mid to senior level Electrical Project Manager to oversee construction projects across the Education, Warehouse/Industrial, and Commercial markets. This individual will be responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of electrical construction project management experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage subcontractors, field teams, clients, schedules, and project financials.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction and estimating through final completion and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, cost forecasts, and manpower plans.
  • Coordinate electrical installations with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and other trades.
  • Manage procurement of electrical equipment and materials, including long-lead items.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, and scope requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
  • Monitor project costs and profitability, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Participate in project kickoff, progress, coordination, and owner/contractor meetings.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and constructability issues before they impact the project.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, applicable electrical codes, and project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and provide timely updates regarding project progress, schedule, and financial performance.
  • Manage project documentation and ensure accurate and timely project closeout.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical construction experience, preferably in a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager capacity.
  • Experience managing electrical projects within Education, Warehouse/Industrial, and/or Commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, systems, materials, and applicable codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, procurement, and cost forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical scopes including power distribution, lighting, branch power, fire alarm, and related systems.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with construction project management software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent electrical construction experience will also be considered.


Preferred Background:

  • Experience working for an electrical contractor on ground-up and renovation projects.
  • Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Established experience working directly with general contractors and owners.
  • Strong understanding of project financials, labor productivity, scheduling, and material procurement.
  • Experience leading project teams consisting of field supervision, project engineers, and administrative support.
