Job Type: Full-time
Travel: High / Frequent (Required)
About the Role
Trades Holding is seeking a proactive Safety & DOT Compliance Manager to lead our safety department. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role focused on building a strong safety culture through relationships and coaching-not just enforcement.
Important Requirement: This role requires frequent, regular travel across multi-state territories to conduct in-person coaching, support field operations, and build rapport with drivers. Candidates unwilling or unable to travel regularly should not apply. Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Coaching & Culture: Build trusted relationships with drivers through 1-on-1 coaching, safety meetings, and routine face-to-face field visits.
  • DOT Compliance & DQ Files: Audit Driver Qualification (DQ) files, MVRs, HOS/ELD logs, and act as the main point of contact for Fleetworthy.
  • Fleet Telematics: Monitor driver performance metrics (speeding, harsh braking, distracted driving) using Samsara to reduce risk and investigate incidents.
  • Vehicle & Asset Management: Maintain vehicle records and DVIRs in Fleetio; ensure proper decals, permits, and routine maintenance compliance.
  • Multi-State Titling & Registration: Manage fleet-wide titling, plate renewals, and registrations with state DMVs.
  • Claims Management: Handle vehicle insurance claims from initial report through resolution.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in DOT compliance, fleet safety, or transportation.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with Samsara, Fleetworthy, and Fleetio (or similar telematics/fleet tools).
  • Proven experience managing multi-state vehicle titling and registration.
  • Coaching mindset with strong communication skills and a driver-first approach.
  • Must be willing/able to travel frequently across company locations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma/GED required (Degree preferred).
Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive Salary ($55k-$65k+ DOE)
  • Travel allowance / mileage reimbursement
  • Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) / Retirement options
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
