Job description

Die Cast Furnace Tech - 3rd Shift
Job Summary: This position maintains die cast machines with continuous supply of molten aluminum from the central furnace and monitors operating conditions of central furnace.
Essential Functions
* Transfers molten aluminum to die cast machines using lift truck.
* Cleans furnaces daily.
* Charges central furnace with raw material and scrap, maintaining proper ratio.
* Degases molten material and confirms metal quality.
* Maintains accurate records for all equipment and material.
* Records hourly furnace temperatures on tracking sheets.
* Maintains raw material FIFO system.
* Keeps lift truck batteries maintained, charged, and changed on routine basis.
* Assists with inspection of die cast parts during breaks and absences.
* Follows the appropriate steps in all Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
* Performs routine inspections on lift trucks and other equipment.
* Other duties as assigned.
Other Functions
* Interacts with co-workers, customers, outside vendors and government officials.
* Maintains a clean work environment.
* Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures.
* Promotes Safe working environment for all associates.
* Communicates with other associates and supervisor regarding quality, production, and safety issues.
* Must wear PPE when performing any task involving molten metal or equipment
Requirements
Education: This position requires High school diploma or equivalency.
Experience: 1-2 years experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment is desired.
Skills: Knowledge of die cast machines and presses is preferred. Position requires willingness to learn safe operations of lift truck, ability to work independently and within a team environment, follow written and spoken directions, and maintain a safe working environment while meeting daily requirements.
Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, stand on concrete floors for extended periods of time and withstand temperatures of up to 120 degrees.
