Job description
Title: Aluminum Assistant Manager Immediate Supervisor: Aluminum Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: This position accomplishes organizational objectives and business plans targets by supervising and motivating staff, organizing and monitoring work flow, and evaluating machine downtime to determine preventative and predictive maintenance needs, resulting in maximum uptime of production equipment, and efficient response to reactive maintenance needs.
Essential Functions:
* Ensures aluminum production operations are at targeted through communication with machine operators and maintenance personnel via daily and weekly meetings. Creates production reports to communicate this information to upper management.
* Controls departmental budget and orders parts and supplies as needed to ensure optimal uptime of production equipment.
* Accomplishes departmental goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
* Completes preventative maintenance plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results during weekly manager meetings.
* Researches new equipment for the die cast division, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
* Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
* Maintains working relationship with production associates and practices open communication in an effort to maintain an issue free environment.
* Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending corrective action to Administration.
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
* Assists with inventory control measures.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Other Functions:
* Interacts with co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and government officials.
* Maintains a clean working environment.
* Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures.
* Promotes a safe working environment for all Associates.
Requirements:
Internal Candidates:
No active disciplinary action in the last twelve (12) months. (Written warning level and above.)
Satisfactory performance on most recent performance appraisal
Education: Bachelors or Associates degree in Industrial or Process Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Management or related field preferred.
Experience: This position requires 3-5 years’ experience managing a diverse workforce in a mass production, manufacturing environment.
Skills: This position requires specific knowledge of process engineering and process improvement, interpersonal and managerial skills.
Working Conditions: Position requires the ability to type, bend, twist, reach, perform repetitive arm movements, lift up to 50 pounds, stand on concrete for extended periods of time, work mandatory overtime, and withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees.
