Description
The Specialist, Admissions & Career Services serves as a primary point of contact for students, graduates, and the community in areas related to recruitment, outreach, college visits, career opportunities, and career preparation. The Specialist communicates with prospective and current students, as well as alumni, regarding career-focused opportunities to support recruitment and enrollment objectives. This role assists in educating faculty, staff, students, and applicants about the importance of early career planning. The Specialist collaborates with various departments to provide career advising to students and participates in college recruiting events. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing recruitment efforts within a designated territory and following up on enrollment leads. The Specialist focuses on recruiting both College Credit Plus students and traditional students through communication campaigns, events, and representing Clark State at various events.
Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends, as needed.
Location: Springfield Location
This position is eligible for limited telecommuting opportunity on Fridays, with approval. This is subject to change per College needs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Facilitates and maintains relationships with area school district staff, businesses, college faculty, administrators, and students to increase pre-college and undergraduate enrollment.
  • Counsels students and families on the college search process, college life, admissions procedures, career exploration, academic programs, financial aid, career advising, and registration processes.
  • Plans and implements on-campus events, campus tours, and Admissions activities, including Discovery Days, large high school tours, Signing Day, and other recruitment events. Coordinates with schools, faculty, and staff to ensure successful event planning and execution. Serves as the institution's liaison for coordinating Clark State's participation in county-specific events.
  • Manages recruitment efforts for assigned Career Centers, including Springfield-Clark CTC, Greene County Career Center, Ohio Hi-Point, and other assigned schools.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, completion, and follow-up of student calling campaigns.
  • Leads recruitment and conversion efforts for students completing Early College Programs, with a focus on College Credit Plus (CCP) students transitioning to undergraduate enrollment after high school graduation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of college programs, tuition assistance opportunities, campus activities, career pathways, and related resources to effectively communicate with prospective students.
  • Utilizes the College's CRM system to document communications, track applicants, and support enrollment management activities.
  • Collaborates with high school partners participating in Clark State's Early College Programs, providing exceptional service and support to staff, faculty, students, and parents.
  • Develops and implements communication and recruitment strategies to encourage College Credit Plus (CCP) students to transition into undergraduate programs, working collaboratively with Enrollment Services offices.
  • Assists with Early College Programs operations, including processing student application materials and related administrative functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Education
(1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Requires travel to multiple campus locations; a valid driver's license and/or dependable transportation is required.
Interpersonal SkillsCourtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Physical RequirementsThe work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity.
