JOB SUMMARY:
As a Construction Cost Control Engineer within our Critical Facilities Group, you'll support the financial management of construction projects in the data center industry. You'll work closely with project teams to develop and maintain budgets, track project costs, review invoices, manage supplier and subcontractor financials, and monitor overall project performance. This role plays an important part in keeping projects financially organized and on track by identifying cost trends, maintaining accurate financial data, and providing visibility into project performance. You'll collaborate with both internal teams and external partners while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and maintain detailed, cost-effective project budgets.
  • Monitor project costs, revenue, and spending trends to forecast final financial outcomes.
  • Support project accounting activities, including preparing and reviewing invoices, forecasting cash flow, and reviewing purchase orders.
  • Analyze project transactions and incorporate unexpected or changing costs into project forecasts and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records to support internal and external audits.
  • Prepare cost analyses and financial reports to provide visibility into project performance.
  • Identify and communicate financial risks, budget variances, and cost concerns to project teams and management.
  • Monitor market trends and evaluate potential construction-related cost increases or decreases.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Track material pricing and analyze the impact of inflation and market volatility on project costs.
  • Manage billing requirements for Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and Fixed-Price contracts.
  • Manage contract and change order financials including tracking, reviewing, and reconciling changes to ensure costs, budgets, forecasts, and billing accurately reflect approved contract modifications.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position involves working in an office environment with extensive use of keyboard, monitor, mouse, and other peripheral office equipment. Occasional lifting of office supplies or other items (up to 25-lbs) may be required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Annual salary for candidates is $65,000 - $95,000

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or equivalent years of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of construction contract agreements and change order processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting, is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in cost engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
