Entry-Level Civil-Survey Designer / Drafter

Role Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) or civil, mechanical, or survey engineering technology.
    • Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and 3+ years of experience in computer aided drafting and/or in civil/survey drafting work.
  • Interest in 3D technology and mapping. Experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of point cloud software and processes a plus.
  • Experience with 3D modelling a plus.
  • Firm understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.
  • Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
Day-to-day job responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating and revising drawings depicting existing conditions for various engineering projects in CAD platforms.
  • Processing field data
  • Preparation of topographic survey projects
  • Preparation of survey plats
  • Working with multiple types of data including GIS and laser scan data
  • Coordinating with technical personnel to gather and record data for design projects.
  • Communication and coordination with multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Document organization and record keeping.
