Job description

Fyda Freightliner Columbus is an Elite Support Certified dealer of new Freightliner trucks and Crane Carrier vocational severe-service vehicles, and carries a large inventory of all-makes of pre-owned trucks. Fyda Freightliner Columbus is the largest retailer of new and used Expediters in the United States. Serving the Columbus transportation industry hub since 1985, we operate as a full-service commercial truck dealership and body shop.


Technician Responsibilities:

The primary duties of a Collision Technician include performing diagnostic tests to find faults, analyzing diagnostic results, and making necessary repairs.

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyzing test results.
  • Replacing and reinstalling vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, suspension, frame and braking systems, ETC
  • Checking vehicle lighting systems/electrical diagnostics and repair
  • Completes service and repair assignments efficiently, safely, and correctly to pass quality inspections per estimates
  • Comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques.
  • Examines damaged vehicle and efficiently plans repair process.
  • Works and communicates with others on vehicle repair status.
  • Files, grinds, body fills and sands surfaces, using air tools and hand tools to a primer finish.
  • Directs the work of an apprentice in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions and explains procedures to assistant.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical assemblies, cooling and A/C packages.
  • Performs quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Technician Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Heavy Duty Diesel Technician experience and knowledge
  • Team oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment.
  • Maintains sufficient personally owned tools.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Detail oriented and quality driven.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening. (Fyda Freightliner follows the National DOT guidelines and tests for marijuana.)

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Specifically:

  • Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, reach and lift.
