Job description

General Description:

Feldkamp Enterprises, a Marsden Holding Company, is seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber to join our team. The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for working on jobsites assigned by their Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in commercial plumbing systems, ability to work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and deliver high-quality craftsmanship. Plumbers will be required to work directly under the Field Foreman and be responsible for training and leading Plumbing Apprentices and Helper level staff members assigned to their jobsite. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Know state and local plumbing regulations.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvents, caulking or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
  • Perform complex calculations and planning for special or large jobs, including daily scope of work.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures using measuring instruments such as rules and levels.
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, establish the sequence of pipe installations, and plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters and fixtures such as sinks and toilets using hand and power tools.
  • Cut opening structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand and power tools.
  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
  • Install vent, storm, sanitary, gas, and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to those systems.
  • Lead and train small crews of Apprentices and Helpers as required or assigned.
  • Coordinate with Field Foreman on needed materials and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have valid Journeyman License
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
  • Have a general understanding of hand tools (tape measure, pipe wrenches, hammers, screw drivers, etc.).
  • Be able and willing to handle power tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner at all levels inside and outside the company.
  • Must have the ability to work with, train, and lead Apprentices and Helper level staff members.
  • Operate in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements (wear proper PPE, keep worksite organized, safe, and free of hazards).
  • For safety reasons, basic English proficiency is required.
  • A pre-employment drug screen is required.
  • You must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work at heights and work undergrounds.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with medical gas systems (if applicable)
  • Experience working on multi-phase, large-scale construction projects.
