OPOC.us is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a premier client employer for the position of Business Development Manager. The selected candidate will be employed directly by the client, not by OPOC.us. Employer details will be shared during the interview process.
Position Description
The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving new business opportunities and will play a crucial role in building new and maintaining existing client relationships. The person in this role will partner with multiple departments to drive measurable results that will benefit our business. The ideal candidate will be able to implement an effective sales approach that expands our reach and strengthens client relationships. They will also actively seek out other business opportunities that can boost revenue and set our company apart.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives that serve markets where the firm has a presence.
  • Create opportunities that drive expansion into alternative markets.
  • Identify, qualify and cultivate leads for the pre-sell of new construction projects, utilizing a proactive approach that leverages industry knowledge, networking, and market research. This position will work closely with operational leads of each market sector to nurture these leads.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and presentations that showcase our capabilities and competitive advantages for Construction Management project deliveries, including current leads as well as joint venture pursuits.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact to project award, including proposal development, pricing negotiations, and contract finalization.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, potential clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and other industry professionals.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, in an effort to build brand awareness and generate new business opportunities. This includes outreach at events and fostering diversity, equity and inclusion. The position will work closely with marketing personnel to establish the brand and our presence at job fairs and other outreach functions.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal teams across various departments, including estimating, operations, and project management, to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to new project development.
  • Report key metrics of the outcomes to the leadership team on a regular cadence.
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and construction best practices, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of our industry.
  • Analyzing the project win/loss data and identifying areas for continuous improvement within the business development process.

Qualifications
• Minimum 5+ years in construction business development, with a proven track record of success in securing new projects.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business or marketing, or similar education or experience considered
• Extroverted personality with demonstrated expertise in the commercial construction marketplace servicing all contract delivery methodologies.
• Strong understanding of construction practices, pre-construction services, and project budgeting.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate our value proposition to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and colleagues.
• Highly organized and detail oriented, with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management Software, as well as InDesign.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and a team player.
• Preferred knowledge of WordPress and experience with working and managing CRM
platforms
