School Tutor
Catholic Preferred but Not Required
St. Pius X School, located at 1061 Waggoner Road in Reynoldsburg, is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated School Tutor to support students in grades K-5 or 6-8. The tutor will provide individualized and small-group academic assistance, helping students strengthen foundational skills, improve academic performance, and develop confidence as learners. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students while working in a supportive, faith-filled Catholic school community.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in reading, mathematics, writing, and other core academic subjects.
  • Provide push-in support for students within the classroom setting.
  • Reinforce classroom instruction and assist students with assignments and academic tasks.
  • Identify students' learning needs and adapt instructional strategies to support individual growth.
  • Encourage positive study habits, organization, responsibility, and independent learning skills.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents (when requested by a teacher) regarding student performance and academic goals.
  • Create a supportive, engaging, and respectful learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Utilize age-appropriate educational materials, resources, and activities to support instruction.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and dignity of all students and families by safeguarding sensitive information and adhering to school policies and applicable privacy requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in education or a related field or experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children
  • Current or retired teacher license preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, reliability, flexibility, and enthusiasm for helping students succeed.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
  • Basic computer proficiency and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic identity of St. Pius X School.
  • Current and satisfactory BCI and FBI background checks or the ability to obtain them.
  • Must have attended or be willing to attend VIRTUS Protecting God's Children training.
