Position Overview

The Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position. This role is intended for architects and designers with demonstrated experience in architectural design education and/or practice, and aligns with the School's commitment to design excellence, critical thinking, and rigorous studio-based learning as the foundation of architectural education. The appointment would begin in August 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year, continuing in future years based upon performance and enrollment.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate design studios. In addition, the candidate will be expected to engage collaboratively with faculty and students and contribute to the pedagogical and intellectual life of the School.

All teaching activities are conducted in person on the University's main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Master of Architecture (M.Arch) or equivalent professional degree in architecture.
• Demonstrated experience working within architectural design studio environments, through professional practice, academic settings, or a combination of both.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a collaborative academic setting.
• A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching and mentoring that reflect Ohio State's Shared Values.

Located in the award-winning Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects-designed building on The Ohio State University's Columbus Campus, the Knowlton School fosters a singular environment for innovative design research and critical inquiry within its three sections: architecture, landscape architecture, and city and regional planning. As part of the College of Engineering, the Knowlton School enjoys the benefits of a large research institution including collaborative relationships with departments in engineering, design, ecology, history, as well as the Wexner Center for the Arts. The school's ongoing catalogue of special programs includes the Baumer Visiting Professorship, the LeFevre Emerging Practitioner Fellowship, a lecture series, gallery exhibitions, and the Source Books series. Architecture has approximately 420 students, 19 full-time and 15 auxiliary faculty members.
