EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee the daily activities of a school age child care before and after school program as a staff substitute.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Respond quickly to substitute requests from regular staff using the most timely and effective means: phone call, e-mail, text or face-to-face contact.
  • Communicate with SACC Director regarding availability to sub and indicate any foreseeable schedule conflicts with SACC program hours.
  • Communicate with regular staff about incidents or events that occurred in their absence and indicate any follow up that is necessary.
  • Assist the regular site staff in overseeing age appropriate activities and programs that give the program individuality and depth.
  • Work cooperatively with other Marysville School staff members (principals, teachers, custodians, SACC Team Leader, etc.) to provide outstanding service to program participants.
  • Assist the regular site staff with the completion of administrative paperwork and submit to the SACC Office in a timely manner.
  • Be aware of site specific policies for behavior management techniques and plans and use SACC behavior management policies as a guide.
  • Attend SACC Staff meetings and in-service training, as required by the SACC Director.
  • Provide consistency and stability in the SACC program.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Dress appropriately in accordance with the SACC dress code policy.
  • Arrive prepared for the day's activities.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Comply with all Ohio Department of Education and Marysville Exempted Village School District rules and regulations.
  • Use appropriate behavior management techniques consistently and fairly.
  • Keep the program space, tables and cabinets clean and organized.
  • Interact appropriately and communicate clearly with parents and children.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SACC Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Min. 18 years of age required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with school age children required.
  • Previous experience in a child care setting preferred.
  • Certification in Communicable Disease, Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting, First Aid and/or CPR preferred. Willingness to become certified within 30 days required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Aware of and sensitive to the developmental markers of school age children.
  • Possess the character traits of honesty, credibility and trustworthiness.
  • Possess planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through.
  • Adaptable and flexible

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
  • Computer/Printer.
  • Various other office machines, such as copier, fax machine.
  • Educational/recreational equipment, such as DVD player, digital camera, video recorders, CD/MP3 players, PA equipment.
  • Small kitchen appliances, such as toasters, blenders and griddles.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  • Operation of a vehicle in inclement weather; that is, being prepared to work on all scheduled days except level 3 emergencies.
  • Potential exposure to unruly children.
  • Potential exposure to angry or distraught adults.
  • Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, and kneel.
  • Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push and pull various items; for example, office supplies, up to 25 lbs.
