Job description

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage & Network Field Technician to join our operations team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a full-time, field-based position focused on the installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling systems, physical security systems, and network infrastructure at commercial job sites throughout the Columbus metro area.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial low-voltage installations, structured cabling, and network infrastructure. If you have installed and serviced network cabling, mounted and configured security devices, terminated network connections, installed network equipment, and worked from blueprints on commercial job sites, we'd like to hear from you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, route, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cable.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, patch panels, network racks, and wireless access points.
  • Mount, configure, and test CCTV cameras (IP and analog), NVR/DVR systems, and video management hardware.
  • Install access control devices including card readers, keypads, request-to-exit (REX) devices, door contacts, electric strikes, and magnetic locks.
  • Install and troubleshoot low-voltage systems including security, surveillance, access control, and network communication systems.
  • Run conduit and install cable support systems including J-hooks, cable trays, innerduct, and raceways.
  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, wiring schematics, network diagrams, and device schedules.
  • Use cable certification testers and network diagnostic tools to verify installations and troubleshoot connectivity, power, and communication issues.
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation, service reports, and project records.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety and security requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, general contractors, and customers on-site.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable hands-on experience installing commercial low-voltage systems and network infrastructure.
  • Strong experience installing, terminating, and testing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and/or fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience installing and supporting network equipment, including switches, routers, patch panels, racks, and wireless access points.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control systems, alarm systems, and other electronic security devices.
  • Ability to read construction blueprints, wiring schematics, and network diagrams.
  • Experience using cable certification testers and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • Comfortable operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in commercial construction environments.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • High School diploma or GED required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • BICSI Installer 1 or Installer 2 certification.
  • Fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing experience.
  • Experience with manufacturers such as Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Bosch, Software House, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Aruba, or similar.
  • Experience leading installation crews.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
