Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - EP/Cardiovascular Lab

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary:

The Inpatient Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Inpatient Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Required Qualifications:

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. Experience in relevant care setting preferred.

The Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Lab provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary procedural environment. This role supports cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology (EP), and basic interventional radiology (IR) services for both inpatient and outpatient populations within a community-based hospital setting.

As part of an ODH Level II Cardiovascular Lab, the RN delivers safe, evidence-based care in alignment with established Level II practice standards. Responsibilities include pre-, intra-, and post-procedural nursing care, patient assessment and monitoring, medication administration, hemodynamic and rhythm monitoring, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The RN participates in STEMI care, including a required STEMI call rotation, and demonstrates strong clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to respond effectively in emergent situations. This role requires a commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-reliability practices across all procedural areas.

Experienced nurses can see opportunities for leadership in this role as a charge nurse.
