    Job description

    Job Summary: WMCHealth is seeking a visionary and results-driven executive to serve as the Vice President, Medical Technology. This key leadership role is responsible for the strategic planning,  operational management, and integration of all clinical and medical technologies across the system. The VP  will drive excellence in patient care by ensuring the reliability, safety, and optimal utilization of all healthcare technology and clinical information systems.

      The VP reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer for the  WMCHealth system.

     Responsibilities: 

    • Executive Oversight: Provide system-wide leadership and strategic direction for all Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) functions, encompassing:
      • Biomedical Engineering (Clinical Engineering).
      • Medical Imaging Service and Systems Support.
      • Medical Equipment Management and Logistics Centers.
    • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all medical devices and equipment comply with manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, Joint Commission, CMS), and WMCHealth quality standards. Develop and enforce system-wide policies for equipment acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.
    • Standardization: Lead efforts to standardize medical equipment technology, maintenance practices, and service agreements across all WMCHealth facilities to achieve operational efficiencies and cost savings.
    • Strategic Direction: Partner with clinical and operational leadership to develop and execute the strategic roadmap for technology supporting clinical departments and specialized services.
    • System Ownership & Integration: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of clinical information systems, including but not limited to:
      • Radiology/Imaging: PACS, RIS, VNA.
      • Laboratory: LIS (Laboratory Information Systems).
      • Cardiology: CVIS (Cardiovascular Information Systems), Echo/Cath Lab systems.
      • Perioperative Services: Operating Room Management and Anesthesia Information Systems (AIMS).
      • Specialty Services: Systems for Neurophysiology, Respiratory Therapy, Transplant Services, and all 'ologies' (e.g., Oncology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology).
    • Interoperability: Champion initiatives to ensure seamless data exchange and integration between specialized clinical systems and the core Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform.
    • Executive Partnership: Serve as the principal liaison between Information Technology (IT) and clinical operations, translating clinical needs into technological solutions and vice-versa.
    • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of technical specialists, clinical informaticists, and HTM professionals.
    • Budget Management: Manage the capital and operating budgets for all medical equipment and associated IT systems, focusing on lifecycle management, cost containment, and value realization.
    • Innovation: Monitor emerging medical technologies (e.g., AI in diagnostics, robotic surgery systems) and assess their potential value and feasibility for adoption within WMCHealth

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Healthcare Technology Management (Biomedical Engineering/Clinical Engineering) and/or Clinical Information Systems within a complex, multi-site healthcare system, required

    Education:  

    • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Administrtation, Information Technology, or related field, required
    • Master’s degree, preferred

    • Deep understanding of medical device technology, regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 80001), cybersecurity risks for connected medical devices, and clinical workflow optimization.
