    Job description

    Walker Engineering is currently taking applications for a Licensed Journeyman Electricians in the Austin Area. If you are an experienced Electrical Journeyman and meet and or and exceed the requirements below, we would like to talk with you!
    A Journeyman Electrician will work under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type project. A Journeyman may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classifications of an E-5 and below. Applicants must be willing to work Night Shift and Overtime as needed.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
    • Performs underground layout and rough-in.
    • Determines wire and conduit sizing.
    • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
    • Installs BUSS feeders.
    • Performs switchgear installation and terminations.
    • Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
    • Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
    • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
    • Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.

    Position Requirements:
    • Hold a current Journeyman's (TDLR) License.
    • Minimum 5+ years commercial experience.
    • Have proven leadership skills and an effective communicator
    • Understands production & material management
    • Are skilled in the tools and installation methods used in commercial construction
    • OSHA30 a plus
    • Understand the importance of JHA's
    • Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
    • MUST understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations
    • Must be able to work occasional overtime if required
    • Have reliable transportation

    Education Requirements:
    • High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
