About the Team

Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fanatics Betting and Gaming operates twenty-two retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at Northwest Stadium. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is headquartered in New York with offices in Denver, Leeds and Dublin.

We are seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to build and maintain scalable services that power our internal platforms. This role is full stack focused, with opportunities to contribute to user-facing internal tools as needed.Experience with Salesforce development and integrations is a strong plus, as many of our systems interface directly with Salesforce for CRM, workflow automation, and customer operations.This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning features end-to-end, solving complex integration problems, and working closely with cross-functional partners. This is a US based remote position. 

Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is building and maintaining scalable Java backend services that power Fanatics Betting & Gaming's internal platforms.

  • Design, build, and maintain Java-based backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
  • Develop scalable, reliable, and well-tested services that integrate with Salesforce and other internal and external systems.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions for APIs, distributed systems, and data flows.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code with strong unit and integration test coverage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across services, integrations, and data pipelines.
  • Contribute to internal web applications and user interfaces backed by Java services.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Java services and Salesforce using REST APIs, events, or middleware.
  • Contribute to Salesforce development when needed, including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and platform configuration.
  • Partner with Salesforce engineers to ensure scalable integration patterns and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with frontend and full-stack engineers to support internal tools used by Operations, Support, Marketing, Risk, and Data teams.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, and cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and agile delivery.
  • Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and implementation details to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Follow engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, testing, observability, and documentation.
  • Improve platform reliability, performance, monitoring, and long-term maintainability by addressing technical debt and enhancing operational excellence.
Experience and Skills
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java.
  • Strong experience building and supporting production Java backend services.
  • Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce technologies such as Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and Salesforce APIs is preferred.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
  • Experience working in AWS or other cloud environments.
  • Experience with Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, service-to-service communication, and data integration patterns.
  • Experience contributing to internal web applications or modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience building highly available, regulated, or enterprise-scale applications is preferred.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools or coding assistants (OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, LangChain, Microsoft Copilot, Vertex AI, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.) to improve engineering productivity is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently own complex technical initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional business and engineering teams.
