Job description

Senior IT Project Manager

Location: Mechanicsville, VA

Duration: 9 Months (Hybrid)

Seeking for a senior IT Project Manager for Project & Product Delivery portfolio and will lead and manage projects utilizing Agile, SAFe, Waterfall, and Kanban methodologies. This role requires working closely with stakeholders, including senior leadership, business, cross-functional teams, and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive consistent project delivery through the entire project lifecycle, including project plans, resource allocation, and management of project risks, scope, and schedule.
  • Coordinate Agile Ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, and Release Planning.
  • Track and communicate project progress from a schedule, cost, and risk perspective.
  • Establish an effective team environment and remove obstacles.
  • Ensure good relationships between the team and product owner.
  • Track and report team velocity and promote continuous improvement.
  • Assist Product Owner with Product backlog management.
  • Ensure teams practice core Agile, Waterfall, and principles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle models and Agile project management principles.
  • Ability to work with customers and manage their expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, and team building.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with Scrum and Kanban Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with SAFe framework is a plus.

Must Have:

  • Active Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) - 8 Years
  • Documented risk management experience - 5 Years
  • Completion of a Category 1 or 2 Federal/Government/State project of $5M or more - 2 Year OR completion of non Federal/Government/State project with a value greater than $10M as PM - 5 Years
