Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
HVAC amp; Hydronic Systems
Location: Cincinnati, OH

Opportunity
Hixson is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer with advanced expertise in HVAC and hydronic heating/cooling systems for large-scale industrial and commercial facility projects. Join a collaborative, integrated team of architects, engineers, and project managers delivering innovative solutions on projects up to $500 million for nationally recognized clients.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will:
•Lead mechanical engineering design for critical process air handling systems (GMP), laboratory air handling systems, ductwork, and hydronic systems (chillers, steam boilers, hot water boilers, cooling towers).
•Collaborate across disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality solutions.
•Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and budget estimates.
•Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and guide best practices.
•Interface directly with clients and internal project teams.
•Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
•Participate in the design and integration of mechanical utilities and plumbing systems.
Qualifications
•BSME, BSMET, BSAE or related degree required
•Professional Engineer (PE) license required
•10+ years of hands-on design experience in HVAC systems, process cooling/heating, and mechanical utilities
•Proven experience in boiler and chiller central plant design
•Strong understanding of HVAC controls systems and integration
