Job description
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Rendering Operation functions in a fresh meat production facility to include, but not limited to the following: safety; coordinating production activities with maintenance scheduling; projecting and ensuring proper staffing requirements for the rendering department; ensuring effective understanding and use of rendering operations and product specs; training and development of the rendering general manager, supervisors and hourly team members; assist in the development and management of the rendering operation budget; promote rendering best practices to increase equipment reliability and reduce operation cost; maintain awareness of waste water and other EPA requirements in the rendering operations while maintaining surveillance of overall operation; oversee performance of all facets of rendering; monitor product yields and general efficiencies of department; for assisting the plant Engineer/Maintenance Superintendent in the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of the annual capital budget; act as project manager on operation expenditure projects to ensure proper project scope development; equipment specifications; costing, planning, scheduling and start up; provide management with information, materials, and training to enable them to produce high quality product and work; monitor records for attendance, payroll, production reports and ergonomics; promoting new ideas and encouraging the development of all team members.
REQUIREMENTS: Education: College degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years' business experience with 2 years supervisor level or above in the rendering industry preferred. Computer Skills: Good working knowledge of computer. Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Supervisory: This position is responsible for managing several groups of personnel. Other Requirements: Ability to lead by example and solve problems in an effective manner with sound follow-up. Ability to work with department heads to meet safety, production and quality yields and meet goals; strong managerial skills; decision making and problem-solving skills.
