Job description

Transform patient care and community as a swing shift or day shift Physician Assistant in Columbus, Ohio

Deliver patient-centered care that makes a difference. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a skilled team, contribute to clinical excellence, and enjoy opportunities for professional growth—all while serving the Columbus community.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • We take pride in our well-established team of 18 physicians and 7 advanced practice providers (APPs) at Mt. Carmel East.
  • Work alongside a collaborative group supported by a clinical performance nurse, a clinical performance associate, and a group coordinator. Our diverse team hails from all over the world, bringing unique perspectives and backgrounds to our practice.
  • We are an integral part of the hospital community and a valued strategic partner, maintaining strong relationships with hospital leadership and other physician groups. Our team actively participates in committees and leadership roles to support quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Outside of work, we share interests in food, sports, and celebrating special events. We come together a few times each year for team-building social events, fostering camaraderie and connection.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified/eligible physician assistants.
  • Inpatient experience required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • Our team values work-life balance, covering for one another when necessary to ensure time off for family and outdoor activities.
  • Typical day shift scheduling model is a 7-days-on, 7-days-off rotation, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The swing shift schedule is Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on managing complex cases in an open ICU setting with intensivist coverage, without the expectation of performing procedures or running codes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalist APPs who independently manage pre-op patients in a clinic setting, supported by supervising physicians and staff.
  • Teach and mentor medical and APP students from nearby universities and programs on occasion. Opportunities to support international physicians with observerships may also be available for those interested in education.
  • Participate in morning meetings two to three times per week to discuss practice updates and meet monthly with the regional team to review performance and address practice issues.
  • No procedures are required.
