    Position Summary
    We're seeking a Corporate Counsel with experience in providing legal and regulatory advice and counsel regarding a variety of matters including but not limited to: (1) consumer financial services laws (2) building new and/or enhanced consumer financial products and services, (3) contract work, and (4) interaction and/or communication with regulators. This is an opportunity to shape and support a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization operating at the intersection of consumer finance and technology.
    The ideal candidate combines law firm precisionwithin-house practicality. A professional who works quickly and thoughtfully, thrives in ambiguity, and brings both intellectual curiosityandkindness to every interaction.
    Job Responsibility
    Support
    • Provide guidance to the Company on how to comply with applicable state and federal laws and minimize risk, particularly those relating to consumer lending, credit reporting, credit underwriting, collection of consumer lending accounts, customer privacy, and protection of consumer rights.
    • Draft, revise, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, including SaaS, licensing, data sharing, and vendor agreements.
    • Collaborate with legal and compliance team and business partners to mitigate third-party risks through vendor management and internal risk controls.
    • Support the business on consumer finance and fintech-related regulatory and operational matters including providing content review for multichannel advertising and marketing related to consumer financial services.
    • Provide business-minded, solutions-oriented guidance on deal structure, compliance, and strategy.
    • Build scalable consumer finance products, such as earned wage access, as well as legal processes and templates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Stay current on developments in consumer finance, bank partnership, data privacy, artificial intelligence, fintech regulation, and technology transactions.
    • Assist with intellectual property matters as needed.

    Drive

    • Facilitate timely and effective resolution of legal issues.

    Education Required
    J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably South Carolina.
    Experience Required
    • 5+ years of legal experience in banking, fintech, and/or consumer finance products including Earned Wage Access products.
    • 4+ years of experience with commercial contracts, including SaaS and data-driven transactions.
    • Blend of law firm and in-house experience a plus.
    • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong business acumen and comfort balancing risk with opportunity.
    • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
    • Curious, creative, and kind-a team player and individual contributor who values integrity, respect, and empathy in how work gets done.

    Knowledge Required
    Excellent written and verbal communications skills; attention to detail; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products. Ability to interact professionally and exhibit appropriate social skills, including kindness, curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and strong work ethic, in a team environment.
